Rurka Kalan, Punjab, February 27, 2025: YFC Rurka Kalan and Generation Amazing Foundation (GA) officially inaugurated the Generation Amazing Community Club (GACC) Multi-Sports Facility in Rurka Kalan, marking a significant milestone in youth development and social empowerment through sports in Punjab. Designed to serve as a hub for community engagement, the GACC will impact over 10,000 children, youth, and community members annually by providing a safe, inclusive, and world-class environment for sports and learning.
“We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with YFC Rurka Kalan, building on the strong foundation we established in 2017,” remarked Nasser Al Khori, Executive Director of GA. “This new GACC represents a significant step forward in our shared mission to empower young people through sport. Together, we will deliver impactful programming, including Sport for Development training for coaches, weekly S4D sessions, youth leadership workshops, and community engagement. These activities are designed to empower young people, build resilience, and foster leadership, ensuring that the GACC becomes a cornerstone for positive change in the community.”
Boasting world-class amenities, the GACC Multi-Sports Complex includes a football pitch, synthetic courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball, and pickleball, as well as a multi-activity hall and a modern 50-station gym. Additionally, the facility features a 200-seat auditorium for community events and training sessions, as well as on-site accommodation and dining facilities. Developed with the support of the Generation Amazing Foundation, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy of the FIFA World Cup 2022, and contributions from non-resident Indians, the INR 8 crore (USD 1 million) project will provide free access to children and youth in the community.
“The inauguration of the GACC Multi-Sports Facility is a proud moment for YFC Rurka Kalan and the entire community. Having grown up in Rurka Kalan, I can say this facility is more than just a sports complex—it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity for thousands of young people in Punjab,” said Gurmangal Dass, Founder and CEO of YFC Rurka Kalan. “Through our partnership with GA, we are creating a space where youth can develop not only their athletic skills but also address critical community issues such as gender equality, health, education, and climate awareness. Together, we are building a brighter future for our community, one where every child has the chance to dream, grow, and thrive.”

The inauguration ceremony on February 24th was attended by more than 500 children, community leaders, and dignitaries, including local ministers and stakeholders. Following the ceremony, Dass and Jassim Al-Ali from Generation Amazing Foundation officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations, symbolising their ongoing commitment to fostering opportunities for marginalised children, youth and the broader community. Held on the 26th of February in Chandigarh, the event brought together policymakers, partners, and advocates to advance a shared vision of inclusion through sports.

Prior to the launch, GA Master Coach Hamad Abdulaziz delivered a four-day train-the-trainer (ToT) programme for fifteen local coaches. The programme included 12 sessions focused on basketball and football, integrating key GA learning modules on gender equality, life skills, and social-emotional learning. Designed to equip coaches with practical strategies, the training will allow them to deliver impactful sessions to young people in their communities. These coaches will now serve as catalysts for change, fostering positive behaviors, resilience, and inclusivity among youth through sports-based initiatives.

“It’s an honour to work with coaches who are deeply committed to making a difference in their communities. This training goes beyond teaching sports—it’s about building resilience, developing life skills, and inspiring young people to overcome challenges so they can go on to identify and tackle obstacles for the betterment of their communities,” said Master Coach Hamad Abdulaziz. “I’m excited to see the impact these coaches will create as they bring the Generation Amazing Sport for Development model to the youth of Punjab, empowering them to grow, lead, and thrive.”

The launch of the GACC marks a new chapter in the partnership between Generation Amazing Foundation and YFC Rurka Kalan, which began in 2017. Over the years, the collaboration has driven social change through initiatives such as the construction of a football pitch in Jamsher, Punjab, leadership workshops in Doha, and impactful events like the “Girls Play Girls Lead” festivals and the 2022 Street Child World Cup. With the opening of this facility, the partnership aims to positively transform countless lives across Punjab and beyond, harnessing the power of sports to foster growth, learning, and empowerment.
